Discover the Walles compound where the transported occupants of the Hyde Park Convict Barracks slept, ate and dreamt. The passage of so much human joy and misery through it doors, has given this 1819 building a visual and emotional atmosphere that surpasses words.

Government House
__________________
Surrounded by an important historic garden, with exotic trees and shrubs, carriageways, paths and terraces. Built between 1837 and 1845, Government House was the most sophisticated example of Gothic Revival architecture in the state. Government House has retained its magnificent setting and most importantly, its relationship to the harbour. House open Friday to Sunday 10am - 5pm by guided tour. Tours depart every half hour at 10.30am. Grounds open every day 10am - 4pm.

Located at the bustling transport hub of Circular Quay, the museum features a Magistrates Court, police charge room and a remand cell. There is also an impressive display of weapons, bushranger's death masks and displays exploring police history. Open weekends 10am - 5pm. Monday to Friday for booked groups only. During January: open daily except for Friday.

Susannah Place Museum

Located in the heart of The Rocks, the museum consists of four terrace houses, which illustrate a realistic view of Sydney's working class life from the 1840s. You will also find an intimate and colourful corner shop. Come and sample old fashioned humbugs and they'll even wrap your purchases in string and brown paper. Open weekends 10am - 5pm. During January: open daily.
