Grand Chapiteau, The Entertainment Quarter at Moore Park
Cirque du Soleil had its humble beginnings in 1984 when a group of young Canadian street performers put together a new concept that included a mix of circus art and street entertainment. Now more than 20 years later it has become one of the world's most spectacular performances, playing to packed houses across the globe.
2006's Varekai played to over one million people across the country, making it the largest Cirque du Soleil tour to visit Australia. In 2008, the acclaimed acrobatic troupe return with Dralion. Taking its inspiration from Eastern philosophy, Dralion mixes ancient Chinese circus tradition with the troupe's unmistakable avante-garde style in a celebration of life and harmony between humankind and nature.
Since its debut in Montreal in 1999, Dralion has been praised worldwide by audiences and critics for its exquisite costumes, stunning sets and gravity-defying acrobatics and dance routines. From the seamless acrobatics of Azala, goddess of air, to the spectacular dance of Yao and his fire demons as well as the familiar Cirque du Soleil clowns, Dralion promises to be a breathtaking spectacle.
