It's been 14 years since those guys in wigs painted the Australian outback with outrageous splashes of colour. Strutting onto our screens with more than the usual amount of lippie, the movie The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert couldn't put a stiletto footstep wrong.

The stage version first hit the Lyric Theatre in 2006. We loved the spectacle, the music and the heart-warming tale of three men who loved to dress up. Alas, one month short of the frockopera’s first birthday it was time to pack up the mascara and head south to Melbourne, where the show was a sell-out success. But nightlife-loving Sydneysiders have one more chance to share the ups and downs of Mitzi, Felicia and Bernadette, when the sequins, wigs and mascara make a wayside stop in Sydney before the bus putt-puts off to Zealand.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, The Musical is one non-stop party on a bus and its hosts carry their hearts, hang-ups and hopes on their gloriously spangled sleeves. If you know (as you should) that disco reigns supreme, you'll love the cast’s renditions of Don't Leave Me this Way, I Love the Nightlife, I Will Survive and Finally. Other toe-tappers include Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (of course!), Go West and I Say A Little Prayer. Priscilla’s three dangling divas pump out the tunes and they are a pure delight of harmony.

And let’s not forget the costumes. With everything from dancing Minties and cupcakes to platform clogs that spell work hazard with a capital H - it's a ride that you won't forget. So what are you waiting for? Frock up, slap on the glam and jump aboard the bus again. But do consider the person behind you and leave your large wigs at home.
