The sensations of food and sound blend in the latter days of November in the Mudgee Valley, when Musica Viva presents the Huntington Estate Music Festival.
The festival is divided into two parts. The Prelude Weekend on November 22 and 23 features two Beethoven quartets: a piano duet work of Schubert and Dvorak's piano quintet. These pieces come courtesy of the Pavel Haas Quartet - visiting our shores from Prague for the first time - and pianists Raymond Yong and Ian Munro, no strangers to the Huntington Festival.
These Prelude acts return to join many others for the Main Festival, embarking on Wednesday November 26. The Main Festival marks five days of extravagance for all lovers of wine, music and food. A number of the world's most notable musicians cook up a cuisine for your ears, while the district's most sought-after restaurants and wineries compose symphonies for your palate.
Highlights include renowned European period music sensation Hesperion XXI, Polish pianist Ewa Kupiec, and the Goldner and TinAlley string quartets. The event also premieres String Quartet no 1, the latest work from composer Paul Stanhope, and festivities are begun each morning and capped off every evening with a 90-minute concert.
