There is a rustic charm about the Duke, which emanates from the open fireplace during the winter and radiates about the beer garden during the summer months. While the inside is scrubbed down with an earthy appeal that compliments any friendly afternoon drink, the stone lions and slightly mismatched artefacts that inhabit the beer garden (comfortably cloistered around the three-tiered lamppost in the centre), reiterate the slightly lopsided charm that make this a great place for one more.

As with the most decent drinkeries worth their salt, the clientele is a largely eclectic mix drawn from all sorts. What else would you expect from Enmore's neck of the woods? And as this bar is just up the road from the Enmore Theatre, it's often brimming with the happy harbingers of whoever happens to be treading the boards that night. As a credit to the Duke it will happily accommodate these scenes of boisterous occasion, and deserves full kudos for enhancing many a punters musical joie de vivre.

The beer garden bistro does a good job of laying down the basics with a well-heeled menu of old favourites such as the mixed grills, seafood, burgers and all-day breakfast. The wine list is not short of options either, as there is a small cellar on site. Tuesday nights see the legendary Duke Trivia, in which substantial sums of Duke Dollars are awarded to the wise - although these are solely redeemable at the Duke's Bar or Bistro, folks.
