As its name suggests, Ruby Lounge provides an opulent (red) setting for a fairly opulent crowd. Pitched as the clubbing area of the recently refurbished Eastern Hotel, the Ruby Lounge accommodates both the serious partier as well as the serious observer. And in terms of eye candy, in Sydney, there's none better.

Boasting an extremely comprehensive and innovative cocktail list, the drinks menu and overall vibe of the bar combine to make this a venue where impressions are everything. The swanky furnishings (including an enormous and decadent day bed) beg to play a part in the numerous propositions being played out on the liberal dance floor, as does the sweet and sexy selection of concoctions being mixed by Ruby's resident cocktail extraordinaires. No fear for the lads though, generosity abounds in the form of regular happy hours on all house booze. Plenty of beers on tap too.

The beats are pumping, tonics are flowing and the crowd is a pleaser. Keep an eye out though for a few barely-legals. Savvy youngsters may rule this roost, but in no way detract from a sophisticated night out.
