Editorial Review
Pellegrini's Seafood Restaurant is housed in a warm sandstone cottage in a quiet crescent of the harbour, accessed from the tail end of Balmain's Elliot Street. With most tables long enough to accommodate 10 or more diners, Pellegrini's is definitely a tasteful option for a group dinner or lunch. It has all the pre-requisites for a function venue: an uncomplicated menu, thoughtful service and a kitchen with a good sense of timing. The food is of the Italian seafood persuasion and the seafood hot pot is a bestseller: an aquatic jumble of prawns, calamari, mussels, fish and octopus in a tomato-based sauce. For an entree choose Sydney rock oysters served natural, Kilpatrick, or beer battered, and order a glass of Sav Blanc on the side. The vegetarian dishes change frequently - at the time of writing the special was nugget pumpkin, hollowed out, stuffed with cheese and pumpkin risotto, and baked. The best seats in the house are on the wooden decking, sheltered from the weather by awnings and covers, yet with only quaint wooden railings to keep you from the quivering waters of Sydney Harbour.

Bec: I have been three times now and each time hopful the service or food would improve and it never has - such as shame as the location is fantastic! (28 December 2007)
William Parker: Have been to Pellegrini's several times in the last 3 years. I am going there tonight in fact. Very happy. The food is delicious. Good quintity and quality is matched by the price. I would rate it a 4 star venue. If you want more you pay more. Service, hhhmmm, well it's always busy when I am there, so they do a good job considering. Happy customer. (26 September 2007)
Anni Turnbull: Everything was working, almost.. Sitting outside at a unique location in Balmain, in a restaurant actually on the edge of the water. What a treat, the perfect setting, a sunny balmy day, yachts going past on the sparkling water. Great company and wine. The food, hmm really ordinary, even an garden salad was so boring not even great dressing, unremarkable chips and the service was not that friendly. What a pity. This was a year and half ago maybe it's got better. (06 June 2007)
