Iguana Bar & Restaurant

Editorial Review

The Iguana Bar kitchen is open until the punters stop rolling in and the food is great. After a small appetiser of bruschetta, we shared a sizzling garlic prawns. For main course, my companion ordered the wild barramundi fillet marinated in virgin olive oil and oregano with lemon butter and I chose a very succulent lamb fillet with rosemary glaze and onion chutney.

Editorial Review

Sydney has very few great late-night food spots and it seems like most of them are hidden away in Potts Point's Kellett Street. Iguana Bar and Restaurant is a dark destination divided into three separate venues, with two moody bars and a completely separate restaurant that is open until late. How late? The kitchen serves hungry diners till 3am every Friday and Saturday night, and stays open till 1am Sunday through to Thursday. And as you'd expect from a nocturnal haunt, what the venue lacks in decor it makes up for with interesting visitors.

The antipasti plate is a good lead-in to the international menu, with a nice selection of cheeses, prosciutto, ham, salami, vegetarian frittata, marinated artichoke, grilled capsicum, roast zucchini and marinated mushrooms. The menu pledges allegiance to no country, containing offerings from Caesar salad to crocodile steak. In fact, there are quite a few dishes that play with native ingredients to great effect. The kangaroo steak is chargrilled to perfection, and served on sweet potato with a basil sauce. The result is a colourful and tasty dish that will make you forget any childish loyalty you might harbour towards Skippy.
