Editorial Review
This fab little Chinese restaurant is a noodle bar with a sleek, trendy facelift. Sparklingly modern, its narrow length is taken up by a stainless steel communal table flanked by slightly uncomfortable padded red stools. Near the front door are wooden shelves stocked with all the essential Asian ingredients: dried noodles, rice vinegar, chilli sauce, Kong Foo Sing fortune cookies.
Begin with fluffy steamed barbecue pork buns, Peking duck wraps, and pork and ginger potsticker dumplings (steamed dumplings that have been fried on one side only). There are a variety of soups and noodles, including sweet char kway teow (fried rice noodles) and egg noodle soup with wonton dumplings. They use free-range chicken for their tender Hainan chicken rice and Nonya-style chicken and potato curry. Other fail-proof picks are the steamed fillet of ocean trout with soy and shallots, and the tenderloin beef fillet with blackbeans and ku gua (bitter melon). Vegetarians will find plenty to enjoy here, too. The dining room is frequently full, but don't fret; there's takeaway and a home delivery service.
