Editorial Review
We need more places like Cafe Pacifico in Sydney; more restaurants that sparkle with pizzazz, passion and paraphernalia. This Californian-Mexican cantina has made its home within a converted warehouse which now radiates with a vibe of fiesta and food. Lively Latino music lures you up the stairs to the dining room, where the walls are smattered with posters advertising South American beer and bands. Upon every available surface, including the well stocked bar, is some little Mexican knick-knack like cactus plants and sombreros.
The cuisine is as exciting as the decor with tables laden with corn chips, guacamole, bean dip and the like. The marinated beef strips of the fajitas continue to sizzle on its hotplate right up to the table. They're served up with a platter of cheese, lettuce, sour cream, refried beans, pico de gallo and Mexican rice which you roll up yourself in flour tortillas. Tacos and burritos are also ordered in abundance but if you have a large party, the banquet menu is designed with sharing in mind, ensuring you get a wonderful spread of Mexican fare. Brace yourself for the beverage list which sports salt-crusted margaritas, lime-topped Coronas, jugs filled with sangria and a list of over 50 premium tequilas. It's highly likely your quiet dinner could turn into a big night out and a slightly foggy head the next morning. Dining is fun and colourful at Cafe Pacifico so get your amigos together for a culinary excursion through Mexico.
