Editorial Review
This long-standing crime drama chronicles the Missing Persons Squad of the FBI who closely examine the victims' lives and attempt to trace their location. The team led by Agent Malone (Anthony LaPaglia) adopt a strategy something like: learn who the victim is in order to learn where the victim is.
Without a Trace does its best to self-contain each episode allowing viewers to tune in and out from week to week without losing the plot lines. This doesn't guarantee that the plot lines are necessarily interesting or even original though - in fact, the past few seasons may suggest an even quicker fall from grace than that of LaPaglia's part owned football team, Sydney FC.
This instalment begins when private investigator Scott Lucas (Danny Nucci) goes missing. The methodical process kicks in with the team scouring the realm of possibilities, yet instead of throwing in a killer twist the writers feel that a long list of suspects would better serve the plot. As the suspects, which include a pimp, a councillor and an estranged father, are cross examined the layers begin to peel away yet the answers flow too easily - almost like a show that just doesn't care anymore.
Without a Trace airs on the Nine Network on Monday, May 19, at 9:30pm.
